Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives
Date: January 16, 2008
Madam Speaker & Members of Congress,
Under the guise of helping children without health insurance, the advocates of a government-run, universal healthcare system for all Americans are pushing for a massive expansion of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) - increasing the cost of this program to you, me, and all taxpayers. We have reached the limit of what our working class families and middle income Americans can afford on their incomes. If Hillary-Care proponents in Congress succeed, this would be another giant step toward making their vision of a socialist, Canadian-style healthcare system a reality in this country.
John F. Kennedy stated, "We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
As uniquely blessed people and citizens of the greatest FREE nation in the world, it is the Constitutional right of all Americans to reject higher taxes, maintain independence from big government oppression, and exercise their true freedoms as a beacon of hope for mankind. It is with this in mind that I urge Congress to reject the “SCHIP” increases and allow the private market sector to provide the best solutions to healthcare needs of our families and children.
On behalf of all Americans, I urge you to act responsibly regarding these important bills...to once again serve the people, strengthen and uplift positive attitudes, inspire bi-partisan leadership, and promote unity for the benefit of ALL.
I look forward to your positive response.
